Mö, a Finnish food technology company, is expanding its portfolio of oat-based cheese alternatives after securing substantial growth in Finland and the Nordics. Founded in 2020 by sisters Annamari and Johanna Jukkola, who grew up on a dairy farm, Mö has quickly gained recognition for its sustainable and functional plant-based products.
The oat advantage
The company’s offering includes a range of vegan cheeses made from a proprietary oat-based formula developed using locally sourced Finnish oats. The blend, which incorporates up to 70% fresh oat drink, enables the cheeses to maintain authentic flavors, creamy textures, and excellent meltability, while offering healthier nutritional profiles compared to conventional dairy products. The cheeses also contain less fat, functional fibers, and no artificial additives.
“We’re not just making cheese alternatives, we’re creating products that appeal to all consumers, regardless of their diet. Our goal is to offer a sustainable and local alternative to traditional cheese, making it both affordable and delicious,” says Annamari Jukkola, co-founder of Mö.

Mö’s product range includes several varieties designed to appeal to different consumer preferences, such as Mö Chavre (a goat cheese alternative), Mö Greek Style (similar to feta), Mö Dreamy (a cream cheese for cooking), Mö Gouda Style (with meltability for everyday use), and Mö Mozzarella Style Grated (targeted at foodservice and pizza markets).
88% growth and counting
The company has seen strong market traction, particularly in Finland, where its sales grew by 88% in 2024. Mö has experienced 18 consecutive months of sales growth with Finnish retailer Kesko and reported a 198% increase in foodservice sales in 2025. Overall, its revenue for the year has increased by 35%. These results have put the company on a path toward international expansion.
To support this growth, Mö is currently raising €2.4 million in funding, with over half of the target already secured. At the PLMA 2025 New Product Expo, the company garnered attention from European retailers, and it is also a finalist in the Lidl x ProVeg Cheese Innovation Challenge.

Mö’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in its production process, which features a short cycle time, no side streams, and no need for ripening, extending shelf life up to five months.
The company has already received multiple accolades, including being named Finnish Food Innovation of the Year 2024, winning the Best No-Goat Vegan Cheese Award 2024, and being recognized as a top dairy brand in 2022 with the Dieline Award. Additionally, Mö’s products were ranked among the Best Vegan New Launches in Finland in 2024.
Expanding beyond the Nordics
Mö’s products are currently available for purchase at K-stores and S-Group stores throughout Finland, with seasonal availability at Lidl Finland. The company has plans to expand beyond the Nordic region and aims to establish itself as a leading plant-based cheese brand in the European market. To support its international growth, the company is actively seeking partners, distributors, and investors.
