Pure Mylk has launched The Mylky Way, a new innovation hub located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This facility, described as Southeast Asia’s first dedicated to plant-based beverages, supports the development of sustainable food technologies in the region. By combining beverage formulation, testing, and scalable production in one location, The Mylky Way will assist brands across various stages of product development, from prototyping to market launch.
“The Mylky Way levels the playing field—giving local innovators access to the same tools used by global brands”
The Mylky Way provides a collaborative environment for food science and business development, with a focus on creating clean-label, functional, and climate-conscious products. The facility is designed to address the growing demand for plant-based beverages in Southeast Asia, where consumer interest in healthier, environmentally friendly options is increasing.
In a statement, Marcus Khoo, the founder and CEO of Pure Mylk, explained the facility’s role as a supportive partner rather than a competitor. “Whether you’re a startup or a legacy brand exploring plant-based, we’re here to help bring your vision to life with confidence and consistency,” Khoo said.

The Mylky Way incorporates advanced technological features, such as enzymatic processing and Vacuum Thermal Injection Sterilisation (VTIS). The enzymatic process improves protein stability and texture, reducing the need for added sugars or artificial additives, while the VTIS system allows for the rapid sterilisation of beverages without compromising on flavour or nutrients. This technology enables the production of shelf-stable plant-based drinks without refrigeration, meeting the needs of both consumers and manufacturers.
Faciliites for R&D and collaboration
The facility spans two buildings and includes R&D and microbiology labs, a pilot plant for small-scale production, and a showroom for market testing and feedback. There is also an incubation space for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and a training centre for food technologists. These features are designed to foster innovation and provide local businesses with the tools necessary to compete in the global market.
Through partnerships with companies such as Tetra Pak and Novonesis, Pure Mylk is expanding its capabilities in processing, packaging, and sourcing bio-based ingredients. These collaborations bring advanced technology and expertise to local brands, helping to reduce development time and improve supply chain efficiency.

The Mylky Way also places a strong emphasis on sustainability. The facility supports ambient-stable production, reducing reliance on cold-chain logistics, and prioritises the use of biodiversity-friendly ingredients like oats, rice, and coconut. These efforts align with national goals for food security, climate resilience, and public health.
Levelling the playing field
Wong Chia Yen, Pure Mylk’s head of R&D, noted, “From enzymatic breakthroughs to responsible sourcing, everything we do is rooted in science and sustainability. The Mylky Way levels the playing field—giving local innovators access to the same tools used by global brands.”
Looking ahead, Pure Mylk is working on the development of next-generation plant-based products, such as ambient yoghurt drinks and functional beverages. Additionally, the company is involved in school nutrition programs and regional food security initiatives.
Starting in the third quarter of 2025, The Mylky Way will be open for private tours and discovery sessions, inviting stakeholders to explore the facility and learn more about its offerings.
