Aged Care Research & Industry Innovation Australia has established an advisory group of 16 leaders and policy makers to guide the Aged Care Collaborative initiatives and ARIIA’s two flagship projects.

Dr John Davis from the Aged Care Council of Elders and an advocate for older Australians will be chair, overseeing the initiatives associated with the $3 million fund to support projects that help solve complex, sector-wide workforce challenges. The Aged Care Collaborative is supported through funding from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.
The advisory group will also be responsible for selecting the providers who will participate in either Flagship Project 1, related to leadership models, or Flagship Project 2, related to data literacy and capability.
“The Aged Care Collaborative presents a unique opportunity to use a combined effort to unite the sector to enact meaningful change,” Dr Davis said.
“Collaboration and shared learning are at the heart of the Aged Care Collaborative, and the advisory group’s guidance will ensure the projects align to these principles.”

ARIIA senior manager of strategic projects Holly Sparrow said the diverse and lived experience of the advisory group members is welcomed.
“As with all of ARIIA’s programs, the Aged Care Collaborative is led by the sector, for the sector. The advisory group will provide independent expertise and guidance to ensure the Aged Care Collaborative is responsive, fit-for-purpose and truly collaborative,” she said.
Dr Rebecca Bilton, ARIIA program and research director said having an advisory group to communicate the progress, impacts and outcomes of the Flagship Projects will enable the sharing of valuable evidence on feasibility and scalability of solutions.

“Additionally, these grant projects take quite a different approach, and if successful can serve as a template for aged care providers on how to work collaboratively, make data-driven decisions, and implement evidence-based solutions into a variety of aged care contexts,” she added.
