As schools face a National State of Emergency for Youth Mental Health, what can they do? Tessa Zimmerman believes that bite-sized tools can make a profound impact on students and school staffs’ mental wellbeing. In her debut talk, Tessa shares the research and strategies for schools to put mental health first. Tessa Zimmerman is the Founder and Executive Director of ASSET Education, a nonprofit organization that trains and equips educators with bite-sized tools to help their students reduce stress and strengthen their resilience. Tessa envisions an education system where students’ mental health is just as important as their academics. She is also the author of, I Am Tessa, where she shares her journey of growing up with severe anxiety in the classroom and the tools that helped her overcome. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
