Primary prevention of family violence among older Victorians

Funded by Respect Victoria, this ongoing project builds on evidence that violence experienced by older people most often occurs within families and is commonly intergenerational in nature.

It uses an action research methodology – engaging with older people, carers, other family members, service providers and key stakeholders – to co-design and pilot an intergenerational primary prevention intervention.

The outcome of this project will be better knowledge about the drivers of intergenerational family violence among older people and local strategies for prevention.
