Anne McCormack has been appointed chief executive officer and group executive of Australian Unity Home Health, commencing January 2027.

Sharing the news via LinkedIn, the mecwacare CEO wrote that taking on the new role was a “very difficult decision” to make.

She went on to write that her time at mecwacare – she has been CEO since 2023 – has been one of “the most rewarding chapters” of her career and that she is “incredibly proud of what they have achieved.”

“mecwacare is in great shape, and there’s still plenty of amazing work to do here. I remain very focused on finishing the first half strongly, focusing on our people, model of care and technology innovation,” she wrote.

“I’m not going far; I’m looking forward to continuing to work in an industry I care deeply about and building on the work I’ve been fortunate to be part of throughout my career. I’ll share more about what comes next in due course.

“For now, I simply want to say thank you to everyone who has been part of my time at mecwacare. It has been a great privilege.”

Prior to her time leading the Victoria-based not-for-profit provider, she held several leadership roles at home care provider Silverchain, Medibank and Healthscope.

Ms McCormack’s appointment follows the resignation of Prue Bowden, who led the home health division at Australian Unity for four years.

Ms Bowden has been a leader at the wellbeing company for 10 years, having been general manager of business transformation and group executive of people and culture prior to stepping into the home health CEO role.

Also sharing the news of her departure via LinkedIn, Ms Bowden wrote that throughout her time at Australian Unity she has had “extraordinary opportunities”, worked alongside “remarkable people” and had experiences that shaped her “enormously as a leader.”

Ms Bowden did not share where her next role will be but wrote that she is leaving with “enormous gratitude, wonderful memories and genuine excitement for what comes next.”

“What I will remember most is the people. To everyone, past and present, who has been part of this endeavour, thank you for the support, challenge, friendship, resilience and belief in what we could build together,” she wrote.

“I leave incredibly proud of what we have achieved and the foundations we have laid for the future. I wish Anne McCormack every success as she takes on the leadership of Home Health from January.”
