Key takeaways:

  • Zircadia’s 4-lead system is compatible with PSG and EEG-enabled HSTs for both wet and dry use.
  • Configurations support EEG, EMG, EOG, and ECG for full sleep staging.
  • The electrodes are currently available for research, with clinical clearance anticipated in early 2027.

Zircadia recently revealed reusable in-ear ExG electrodes for research use, a 4-lead system compatible with polysomnography (PSG) and electroencephalogram (EEG)-enabled home sleep testing (HST) devices.

The gold-plated electrodes are capable of either wet or dry use and are designed to be as easy to apply as putting in earbuds. Configurations and support for EEG, electromyogram, and electrooculogram are available for the most popular original equipment manufacturer systems, allowing for full sleep staging. The system can also be configured for electrocardiogram.

The device features include:

  • A soft and hear-through design with three sizes for comfort.
  • Compatibility with all clinical and research hardware and software with EEG capabilities.
  • Suitability for in-clinic or home use in research settings.

The in-ear electrodes are currently available for research use, with the company targeting Food and Drug Administration clearance for clinical use in early 2027.
