HammondCare has acquired Anglicare Sydney’s community-based home care services.
The arrangement will see the transition of approximately 1,800 Support at Home clients and more than 1,400 Commonwealth Home Support Program clients to HammondCare’s Greater Western Sydney, Illawarra and New England portfolio.
Home care services delivered by Anglicare Sydney within its Seniors Communities’ Villages will be retained.
HammondCare chief executive officer Andrew Thorburn and Anglicare Sydney CEO Simon Miller announced the acquisition together, highlighting the mission alignment between the two not-for-profit Christian organisations and their shared commitment to relationship-based care.
Mr Miller said the introduction of Support at Home is reshaping home care and requires a scale Anglicare Sydney is unable to reach naturally in the community.
“HammondCare’s larger scale means they can sustainably operate and grow community-based home care while honouring their missional foundations,” he said.
Both organisations have said continuity of care for Anglicare Sydney clients is of the utmost importance, and many team members are expected to transition to HammondCare alongside their clients.
Mr Thorburn said the acquisition aligned with HammondCare’s Next Chapter Strategy to build a strong home care foundation and increase density and service offerings for people with complex needs.
“This growth in our home care business will enable us to deliver care to even more people and fulfil our mission to improve the quality of life of people in need,” Mr Thorburn said.
“And importantly, clients can feel confident knowing they’re supported by an organisation that can continue to meet their needs over time, helping them to live at home for as long as they possibly can.”
HammondCare aims to take over service operations by 2 November, subject to regulatory approval and transaction completion.
