Aveo celebrates two sod-turns in one day

Retirement living operator Aveo is celebrating a sod-turning event for stage four of its Parkside Carindale community in Brisbane’s southside and a sod-turn for stage three of its Robertson Park community.

The ongoing development at Parkside Carindale will see an additional 94 independent living units across nine levels, while Robertson Park will deliver 38 ILUs across four levels.

Parkside Carindale will deliver 402 ILUs in total upon completion, making it the largest retirement community in South East Brisbane.

In attendance at the sod-turning event for stage four of Parkside Carindale was Aveo chief executive officer Tony Randello, members of the Aveo leadership team, members of the Hutchinson Builders construction team and members of the community’s residents committee.

Aveo CEO Tony Randello said the sod-turns at the two communities are an important milestone for the community and for the wider pipeline of retirement living in South East Queensland.

“We are proud to keep investing in communities that give residents the opportunity to stay connected and enjoy homes designed around accessibility, comfort and lifestyle,” he said.

“Many residents have called Brisbane’s southside home for decades and have no intention of leaving it behind. Expanding Parkside Carindale means they can move into a home that suits them without giving up the suburb, the neighbours and the lifestyle they know,” Mr Randello said.

Aveo is also developing its Robertson Park community and together the two developments mark a $150 million investment.

Aveo has a total of 10 retirement living communities in Brisbane and another seven in the surrounding area between Albany Creek and Springfield, with Parkside Carindale and Robertson Park marking the next phase of growth in The Living Company’s pipeline of developments across the East Coast of Australia. Aveo was purchased by The Living Company in July 2025.

The Robertson Park development is being built in partnership with Integral Construction, and the afternoon event was attended by Mr Randello, residents, Integral Construction representatives and members of the Aveo leadership team. Smoking ceremonies took place at both sod-turning events.
