Aged care and retirement living provider Respect has announced a $15.19 million development at its RM Begg care community in Kyneton, in the Macedon Ranges region of central Victoria.
The development includes the addition of 20 independent living units opposite the existing12-units at the RM Begg care community .
The development also includes a full restoration of the heritage, 1906-built Bolton Hall, including the removal of hazardous material and new flooring, windows, a kitchenette and toilet facilities.
Construction will begin in the next few days, with the Bolton Hall restoration expected to be completed in February 2027. The units will be delivered in two stages – 16 units by early March 2027 and four by September 2027.
Of the 20 new units, there will be 15 two-bedroom, and five three-bedroom offerings.
Another four to five units are planned for the future.
Respect chief executive officer Jason Binder said the development – which is being fully funded by Respect – contributes to addressing the supply of fit-for-purpose housing for older people in regional communities.
“There is real demand for quality independent living options in regional towns like Kyneton. This project responds to that need while also restoring and future-proofing a community asset that has served the Kyneton community for many years,” he said.
“Regional communities shouldn’t have to settle for ageing infrastructure. As a not-for-profit organisation, we’re committed to ensuring older people in regional and rural communities have access to the care and services they deserve, in the communities they’ve helped build and call home,” Mr Binder said.
