Lutheran Homes Group has purchased the independent Mildura Gardens Retirement Village, which is the third regional Victorian retirement community the provider has acquired.
The Mildura Gardens acquisition will add 87 independent living units and a community centre to LHG’s portfolio. The village will be renamed to Lutheran Homes Group Mildura.
Chief executive officer of the Adelaide-headquartered not-for-profit, Tim Chia, said the acquisition reflected the not-for-profit’s commitment to supporting regional communities and expanding its presence in Victoria.
“Mildura is a vibrant and growing regional centre with significant investment happening across the region,” Mr Chia said.
“With a growing and ageing population, it is important that regional communities have access to high-quality retirement living and aged care close to home.
“We have already had the opportunity to spend time in Mildura and meet some of the wonderful residents and members of the community. It has been incredibly welcoming, and we look forward to building strong relationships and becoming part of the local community.”
Mr Chia said the Mildura site also provided strong foundations for growth, with the sale of the retirement community including two large blocks of land.
“The village offers contemporary accommodation and fantastic community facilities,” he said. “With significant parcels of vacant land within the gated community, there are many opportunities for future growth.”
The move to Mildura follows LHG’s June 2025 purchase of aged care homes in Horsham and Hamilton – which expanded the organisation’s capacity by 134 beds, 184 independent living units and 170 staff.
The group now provides care to more than 2,000 people and supports a workforce and volunteer base of over 1,500 people across its seven retirement communities, five of which have co-located aged care homes.
