Thank you!

After a busy September, the window for case study applications for our ‘Dementia friendly parks’ project has officially closed. We just wanted to thank everyone who has taken the time to apply, as we gear ourselves up for the next tricky task. We now have the unenviable job of deciding which applications to take forward as one of our six case study sites and which to decline. Luckily though, it’s not actually us making the decisions but our project Steering Group, who will be acting as an independent review panel. Phew!

We haven’t had a chance yet to look through the applications in any detail, but have seen enough to know that there was good interest from all across England, which is fantastic. Even if it’s just managed to make sites more aware of how to support people living with dementia and start a few conversations around what they could do (regardless of whether or not they then went on to apply), the process will have been worthwhile.

So bear with us as we review, discuss and maybe even debate the case study applications with the Steering Group, and narrow them down to our final group of six. We’ll let everyone know the outcome and share our list of successful applicants via our blog posts in due course. We’ll also keep you posted on other project developments as our free resources are almost ready to launch!

Wish us luck for an interesting October.

This project is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Our project on ‘Working towards creating dementia friendly parks, outside spaces and nature reserves’ is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we will be able to develop a guide and environmental self-assessment tool to improve access to outside spaces for people affected by dementia.
