Five Good Friends takes over Living Choice Australia

Home care provider Five Good Friends has agreed to acquire retirement living operator Living Choice Australia, with the goal of strengthening specialist home care service offerings for retirement living residents and home care clients across Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia.

The partnership will embed Five Good Friends’ technology-enabled and relationship-focused model of home care into Living Choice Australia’s services.

Living Choice Australia chief executive officer Darren Steele said the provider is confident the deal will provide a strong foundation for the future while maintaining the continuity of care that clients value.

“Five Good Friends shares our person-centred approach and commitment to wellness, independence and quality care. Importantly, their specialist home care capability and scale will allow our residents and existing home care clients to access a broader range of services as their needs change,” said Mr Steele.

Through the transition, clients and families will gain access to a broader network of home care services, additional support resources, digital tools to help families stay connected and informed and dedicated support teams with retirement living village experience.

Existing care arrangements will continue with minimal disruption, and where possible care recipients will continue with their current schedules and care workers.

The transition will take effect on 1 October. Living Choice Australia and Five Good Friends have been jointly hosting a series of information sessions across Living Choice Australia retirement villages throughout August.

Five Good Friends co-founder and chief operations officer Nathan Betteridge said the transition is about people, not systems, and that they want residents, clients and families to hear directly from them about what is changing and what is staying the same.

“We are looking forward to becoming part of these communities and supporting residents as their needs change over time,” said Mr Betteridge.

CEO and co-founder Simon Lockyer said the team at Five Good Friends believes great care is built on relationships, trust and human connection, which is why preserving continuity of care throughout this transition is a priority.

“Living Choice Australia has created something special within its retirement village communities, and we’re honoured to continue that legacy while bringing additional services, technology and support to residents and their families,” Mr Lockyer said.
