Women’s Health Week 2026 – Good Lives for Older People
Tips for health and wellbeing – inspired by Helena’s experience
Say yes to support, when it feels right for you.
It can feel difficult to ask for help, even when family and friends encourage you.
Accepting support can make everyday life easier and help you keep doing the things that are important to you.
Move in a way that feels safe
Exercise does not need to be intense or intimidating to be worthwhile. Small classes, seated exercises and tailored guidance may make movement feel more achievable. At ACH Group, we can support you to build mobility, at your own pace.
Celebrate the small wins
Progress may not always look dramatic, and small improvements can add up over time.
Sometimes it’s being able to walk a little further, feel more confident getting out and about, or spend more time doing the things you enjoy.
Stay connected
Good health is about more than physical wellbeing. Spending time with others can boost your sense of connection, confidence and belonging. Simple actions, such as attending a class, joining a social activity, making a phone call or simply have a conversation can help you stay connected to the people and activities that matter to you.
Begin where you are and get the support that’s right for you
Helena’s goal is to keep improving her mobility, spend time with family, enjoy living in her own home, and feel confident taking part in the activities she loves. That reflects the spirit of this year’s theme of “Do it anyway”, starting where you are and taking one small step at a time.
