Not-for-profit aged care provider Warrigal is celebrating the practical completion of its Warrigal Lake South independent living community at Lake Illawarra.
The village features 65 contemporary two-bedroom villas, landscaped gardens and community spaces, and easy access to Lake Illawarra, shops, health services and recreational amenities.
It is designed to provide independent community living with the reassurance that support can be provided if a resident’s needs change.
After two years of construction, Warrigal chief executive officer Jenni Hutchins said the milestone is representative of an important investment in housing choice for older people across the Illawarra.
“Reaching this milestone is exciting, not only for Warrigal but for the wider community,” she said.
“Warrigal Lake South has been created for people who want to enjoy their independence today, while having confidence that support can be arranged if their needs change in the future. It is about providing choice, connection and the opportunity to remain part of a welcoming community.”
Warrigal is now preparing to welcome prospective residents, families and community members to tour the display villa, community hall and shared spaces, and speak with the customer relations team about independent living options.
The news follows Warrigal being allocated $10 million of a $25.9 million investment in the Illawarra region through the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program for its Mount Terry aged care home. The funding will be used to expand the home’s capacity by 22 beds.
