The Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority has launched a public consultation to inform the development of residential aged care pricing and costing advice it will provide to the government.
IHACPA is also seeking feedback on the potential impacts of transitioning to the new Aged Care Act and on supplements and grants for specific care needs.
Feedback from this round of consultation will inform the Pricing Framework for Australian Residential Aged Care Services 2027-28, which outlines the principles, decisions and approach IHACPA uses to develop advice.
IHACPA chair David Tune encouraged all residential aged care stakeholders to contribute to the consultation.
“We encourage everyone with an interest in aged care to share their experiences and views on residential aged care. This is an important step in ensuring our pricing and costing advice remains transparent, evidence-based and responsive to the needs of older Australians and the aged care sector,” Mr Tune said.
In addition to being provided to the Minister for Health and Ageing, IHACPA will use the consultation outcomes to inform future areas of focus.
The consultation period closes on 21 August at 5pm AEST.
